"Them Dirty Blues" (Riverside RLP-1170) was one of Cannonball Adderley’s best albums of the early 1960s. It features the leader’s quintet with his brother Nat on cornet, plus Bobby Timmons and Barry Harris alternating on piano, Sam Jones on bass, and Louis Hayes on drums. Among the highlights is the original version of Nat’s famous composition “Work Song”, which would become a standard. The complete quartet album "Cannonball Takes Charge" (Riverside Records RLP-1148), on which Adderley is backed by Wynton Kelly on piano, has been added here in its entirety as a bonus.
