"Them Dirty Blues" (Riverside RLP-1170) was one of Cannonball Adderleyâs best albums of the early 1960s. It features the leaderâs quintet with his brother Nat on cornet, plus Bobby Timmons and Barry Harris alternating on piano, Sam Jones on bass, and Louis Hayes on drums. Among the highlights is the original version of Natâs famous composition âWork Songâ, which would become a standard. The complete quartet album "Cannonball Takes Charge" (Riverside Records RLP-1148), on which Adderley is backed by Wynton Kelly on piano, has been added here in its entirety as a bonus.
