The group was one of the most revered in jazz history, with a frontline featuring the leader on trumpet, John Coltrane on tenor sax, and Cannonball Adderley on alto sax, plus the rhythm section of Bill Evans on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Jimmy Cobb on drums. This same group, which sadly dindn’t last long,, would record the onforgettable Kind of Blue just six months later.
