From 1953 to 1956, trumpeter Buck Clayton recorded a series of studio jam sessions for Columbia showcasing the leader along with some of the most important swing masters, such as Joe Newman, Ruby Braff, Urbie Green, Coleman Hawkins, Buddy Tate, Billy Kyle, Freddie Green, Walter Page, and Jo Jones, among many others.
Presented here in their entireties are the LPs Jumpinâ at the Woodside (Columbia CL-701) and, as a bonus, The Huckle-buck and Robbinsâ Nest (Columbia CL-548), two of the best of those Jam Session albums.
