CARLOS LYRA - CARLOS LYRA/BOSSA NOVA [CD]

Celebrated Brazilian singer and composer Carlos Lyra was born on May 11, 1939 (he is 79 years-old and still musically active at this writing). Lyra and Antonio Carlos Jobim were among Bossa Nova’s first two composers, together with lyricists Vinícius de Moraes and Ronaldo Bôscoli. Lyra’s first song to be recorded was “Menina” (1954), issued as a single by Sylvia Telles in 1955 (and added here among other bonus tracks). This release presents Carlos Lyra’s first two albums: his 1959 debut LP, Carlos Lyra Bossa Nova, and his sophomore effort, the self-titled Carlos Lyra, taped in 1961.
