Although they were great friends, Harold Land and Kenny Dorham seldom had the opportunity to play together, and only recorded two albums as a team, both of which are contained on this release. These LPs are Eastward Ho! Harold Land in New York (Jazzland JLPS933), a quintet date issued under Land’s name, and Fire in the West (Jubilee JLP1044), a Herb Geller date on which the two musicians are joined by the leader on alto sax.
