This release presents a previously unissued performance by Louis Armstrong and His All Stars recorded at Amsterdamâs Concertgebouw on January 7, 1959. Satchmoâs 1959 European tour would end abruptly on July 18, 1959, after Louis suffered a heart attack in Spoleto, Italy. The 1959 All Stars included well known figures such as trombonist Trummy Young, clarinettist Peanuts Hucko, and pianist Billy Kyle. Another rarely heard set from the same tour, recorded in Germany a few days later, has been added here as a bonus.
