A British-American co-production, the film is a World War II epic feature starring William Holden, Jack Hawkins, Alec Guinness and Sessue Hayakawa. Based on the novel Le Pont de la Rivière Kwai (1952) by Pierre Boulle, the movie is a work of fiction but borrows the construction of the Burma Railway in 1942-43 for its historical setting.Celebrated British composer Malcolm Arnold’s score for the film has become iconic, and is presented here in its entirety along with a few tracks not originally included on the LP.
