This release contains the complete original 10-inch LP Ascenseur pour lâéchafaud (Fontana 660.213), consisting of a suite of Miles Davisâ music for Louis Malleâs film of the same title (it was premiered in the United States as Frantic). This music was later released in the United States on the 12â LP Jazz Track (Columbia CL1268), adding to the suite an outstanding session by Milesâ sextet featuring John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley and Bill Evans. Our edition includes the complete contents of both issues, plus, as a bonus, a quintet session showcasing Miles with Sonny Rollins.
