Jackson is joined by an all-star rhythm section on both LPs, including Tommy Flanagan on piano and Connie Kay on drums (Eddie Jones and Paul Chambers alternate on bass, and Kenny Burrell is added on guitar on the first LP only). Both albums also feature super star soloists joining Bags on vibes. The first of the two albums, Bean Bags, pairs Jackson with Coleman Hawkins. Both participated on a session under the saxophonist’s name in December 1946, in which Fats Navarro, J.J. Johnson, Hank Jones and Max Roach were also present.
