INCLUDES 2 BONUS TRACKSThis release presents the complete original LP "New Jazz Sounds" (Norgran MGN-1044/Verve MGV-8135), which marked the first small group collaboration between Benny Carter and Dizzy Gillespie. The two musicians had worked together extensively in the Cab Calloway orchestra. A reading of “Laura” that completes the first session but wasn’t included on the original LP has been added here, as well as two long live performances that feature Carter and Gillespie as members of Jazz at the Philharmonic in 1960.
