Producer Don Schlitten conceived this session as a welcom home for Dexter Gordon, after his 14 year âescapeâ to jazz âenthusiasticâ Europe. It documents a transformative moment, both for Gordonâs career and for the jazz business. The True Blue-Silver Blue sessions were a jam session in the true sense of the word. A true example of cohesion, interplay and soloistic adventurousness displayed by Gordon and his front-liners Al Cohn, Blue Mitchell and Sam Noto. A master class on jam session aesthetics through their inspired instant composing.
