The band consisted of Dolphy on alto sax,  clarinet and flute, Hamilton on drums (and occasionally vocals), plus guitar, bass and cello, resulting in an unmistakable sound that is still modern and unique.This 3-CD set presents the complete studio recordings by the group, including the following five original albums in their entireties: "The Original Ellington Suite (Pacific Jazz PJ-10108), "The Three Faces of Chico" (Warner Bros SD-1344), "With Strings Attached" (Warner Bros BS-1245), "That Hamilton Man" (Sesac N-2901/02),  and "Gongs East!"
