Hot Rats [LP]

Released in 1969, Hot Rats is Frank Zappa's second solo album and a pioneering work in jazz fusion. Departing from the satirical style of the Mothers of Invention, the album features predominantly instrumental tracks with complex arrangements and innovative recording techniques. Notably, "Willie the Pimp" includes vocals by Captain Beefheart. The album's rich textures and advanced overdubbing set a new standard for studio recordings.
