Wolf was one of the first artists to figure out how to make thoroughly modern experimental music by emphasizing the most primitive elements of its ancestral roots. This quintessential collector’s release contains Wolf’s eponymous second album for Chess Records, Howlin’ Wolf (1962) – one of the all-time cornerstones of the Chicago Blues. The so-called “Rockin’ Chair Album” brings together some of the electric blues’ finest songs from the late ‘50s and early ‘60s, such as “The Red Rooster”, “Spoonful”, “Wang-Dang-Doodle”, and “Back Door Man”.
