Jimmy
Smithâs iconic 1960 album "Home Cookinâ" (Blue Note BST-84050). He is
backed on all tracks by the great Kenny Burrell on guitar, and Donald
Bailey on drums, plus tenor saxophonist Percy France joining the trio on
four of the seven tracks from the LP. After participating on a handful
of great albums as a sideman in the late 1950s and early 1960s, France
wouldnât return to the studios after 1962 until 1980!
An
additional song from the same sessions featuring Percy France, as well
as five tracks from a rarely heard 1957 date (with two performances by
Smith on unaccompanied organ), have been included here as a bonus.
