Pianist McCoy Tyner sits out on “Blues to Bechet” and “Blues to You”, reducing the band to a trio on these tunes. On “Blues to Bechet” and “Mr. Syms”, Trane plays soprano sax.This expanded edition explores even deeper into Coltrane’s approach to playing the blues by including 13 additional blues tracks by the saxophonist. Recorded between 1957 and 1960, these outstanding tunes feature a myriad of jazz stars.
