This release contains two classic John Coltrane albums in their entireties: "Standard Coltrane "(Prestige PRLP 7243), which merited a four-star rating in Down Beat, and "Stardust" (Prestige PRLP 7268). Both LPs were recorded during the course of the same two sessions in 1958 and present the leader in a quintet format backed on most of the tracks by the Miles Davis rhythm section of that time, plus trumpeters Wilbur Harden and Freddie Hubbard. One other song from the sessions, which was not included on either of the original LPs, has been added here as a bonus.
