This set compiles two complete sessions by the wonderful 1958 Miles Davis Sextet, which featured the leader along with such legendary stars as John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, and Bill Evans. The group is presented here on both a brilliant studio session and their complete live performance at the Newport Jazz Festival in July of 1958. This same band, which sadly didn’t last long, would record the unforgettable Kind of Blue just six months later.
