Description
Originally released by Impulse! in 1964, Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus finds Charles Mingus revisiting and reshaping several earlier compositions with bold ensemble arrangements. The album blends hard bop, blues, gospel-influenced jazz and orchestral color, supported by musicians including Eric Dolphy, Booker Ervin and Jaki Byard.

The program includes the driving “II B.S.,” a distinctive interpretation of Duke Ellington’s “Mood Indigo” and new arrangements of compositions associated with “Better Get Hit in Yo’ Soul” and “Goodbye Pork Pie Hat.”
